Apple Strudel, yum.

I made apple strudel today to complement an Octoberfest themed dinner party!

I always look at 3 - 5 recipes for the same dish and fuse them together in some sense, and that’s what I did here! OH AND I got to make it twice today because the dogs I am watching thought it looked and smelled SO GOOD that they needed to try it…. :,)

Ingredients

1 package of puff pastry (has 2 pieces in it, most should)

3 apples, any kind your heart desires! (Fuji, Granny Smith, the ones off your neighbors tree, gala)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 c almonds sliced or chopped

1/3 cup raisins

2 tablespoon flour (your choice I just hope you don’t used bleached flour)

1 tablespoon cinnamon

dash of nutmeg (optional)

1 egg

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and get your puff pastry out to thaw while you prepare the filling

in a medium bowl combine apples and lemon juice! I used a grater and grated the apples, you can also just thinly slice or dice! mix together coating the apples well with lemon juice - set aside

in a large bowl combine sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, raisins and almonds - mix well then add the apple mix - combine very well

take your puff pastries and lay them out - and cut it like so!

Add 1/2 the mix to the center of the dough and then you can play around with folding the flaps over (see pic below for final product)

Do it again for the second pastry, place on parchment paper or a baking mat.

Before putting in the oven beat the egg and lightly coat the tops of the pastry. (I sprinkled a little more sugar on it too!)

Bake for 20 mins, let cool just a little then FREAKIN ENJOY!
